It is amazing what Raymond does with the Bread of Life food pantry in Saltville. It is remarkable the amount of food he can obtain for the limited funds he has available. All of his hard work is volunteer; he receives no pay for his services.
According to an article for National Public Radio’s All Things Considered in November 2005, more than 800 families were being helped by the community food pantry Raymond started with his daughter Jennifer in 1997. Originally, the goal was to help five families they knew who needed food. As the needs grew, so has Raymond’s contribution to his community. He is an inspiring unsung hero whose selfless good works have touched so many lives.
