Whitetop Mountain

The highest altitude road in the state of Virginia that is automobile accessible is on Whitetop Mountain. At an elevation of 5,520 feet, Whitetop is the second highest peak statewide with stunning views of the surrounding mountains of our bordering states, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia. Campers may find stargazing at its best and brightest with the light show provided by Mother Nature as they nestle in for the evening under a blanket of Milky Way sky. So named not for snowcaps, but for a barren "bald" peak, Whitetop is also know for a cliff called Lover's Leap.
